FAQ - Cartoon Submission Guidelines

How do I submit a cartoon?

First you need to be a member. For more information about membership, see the FAQ about how toonut works.

The image file format for cartoon submissions is JPG, GIF or PNG at 500 pixels wide by 500 pixels high. We strongly recommend resizing your cartoons to these dimensions before uploading them to avoid long upload times. If you don't know how, no sweat: larger images will get rescaled automatically by toonut after the longer upload.

To Submit your work,

  • click on the Submit Cartoon tab. This will bring you to a new form.
  • Enter the Title of your cartoon and the series name if applicable.
  • The Browse button lets you locate a cartoon on your computer.
  • Then you hit the Upload button. You cartoon will be uploaded to the toonut server, and you'll get a thumbnail-sized preview.
  • If you're happy with the preview, click Submit and the cartoon will be published to our New Cartoon section.
  • If you're not happy with the preview, you can Browse again to find another file, or click on another tab like Front Page to go to another part of the site.

There is a submission limit of one cartoon per day for each artist, for reasons discussed here.
